Mitch was known for his innovation and inspiration, when he lived in Munich, helping to develop local soccer players and clubs and running a very successful social club. After moving to Australia, he surprised everyone when he brought the first Australian youth football team, to our local Bavarian village to play in friendship games. Some of the players are still in touch with each other more than 10 years since that initial event such was the impact of the tour.

I have worked closely with Mitch Doherty since 2008, on several projects. This includes starting an academy program together, recruitment, tournaments, team tours and a variety of soccer events. In 2018 and 2019 through his visionary thinking and excellent connections in the professional, we organized an event that brought top professional teams into Boston, and bridged the gap between grassroots and professional players, the tournament managed by Allsportstours, was spearheaded by Manchester United’s U14and U15 academy teams. Mitch arranged a tour for a very lucky group of boys from Perth, WA and I was fortunate to have travelled as the head coach.

We played in Munich, Germany & watched Bayern Munich play Dortmund, we took an overnight train to Holland and played matches in Amsterdam and then watched Ajax FC play Feyenoord. We travelled on a ferry to the UK where we watched Manchester United at Old Trafford play against Liverpool and the team played two more matches in the UK before travelling home. It was a magical, unforgettable time for all involved.
